Shoot Diary Part Two: Creating Our Happy Place
We filmed and photographed this season's Palinopsia campaign in the home of my besties, Judyta and Jason Hulme. Capturing our new pieces and their family's essence is a visual love letter to their 30-acre property and Australia. A Stylist by trade, Judyta's touch is present in every inch of the space. We caught up with the Hulme's to talk more about their move to Australia, the space they have created for their family and aspirations of lazy days by the lake in Forest Glen, NSW.

‘We chose Australia; to make our home on a big, blank island canvas.’
‘Our home is our piece of paradise; a grounding space to live and grow. Forest Glen is a small town with great schools and a supportive community. It’s packed with people who’ve discovered the beauty and freedom of living outside the hustle. We wanted to create a place to support our lifestyle. Judyta wanted space for her horse, Fillippa, and Alpaca, Bertie, while I wanted solitude. We loved the idea of building from a greenfield site. In hindsight, we had no idea how much work we were in for, but now we’re settled – it was worth every long day.’

‘Finding a place within the city limits was challenging; property prices were huge, and space was scarce. We didn’t want to stretch our social connections by distance. So when we found a small nursery in Forest Glen, subdivided into residential land with lakes, fire trails and walking tracks – it was big love at first sight.’
‘When we designed the space, we wanted to create a sanctuary for us, our boys and our animals. To get a feel for the place, we’d camp here and imagine our finished home. The property was stunning when we found it and only needed minor landscaping. We designed the space in three distinct areas:
- The formal area: near the house, we manicured the landscaping, the pool and a comfy place to be outdoors.
- The paddocks: a lovely sprawling space where Judyta spends hours with Fillippa and Bertie in tow.
- The campground: here, we wanted to retain an untamed spot with a firepit, the majestic rocks and a breathtaking view.’

‘On the weekends, we love working on the property, and perpetually have a project on the go. From horse gates to sheds, there’s always a DIY emergency. When we’re not mid-project, we’re pottering and unwinding. We do our own thing, and we come together for pizza night with good music and wine or a popcorn movie night in the cinema room. Our fab neighbours have kids the same age as ours, so it’s never quiet.’
"They use all the spaces to get into the right kind of trouble in a safe place"
‘The kids love the outdoors as much as we do. Sometimes they need to be reminded to ditch the devices; they love swimming in the pool, trekking around the bush, and building forts. They use all the spaces to get into the right kind of trouble in a safe place.’
‘My non-negotiable was the kitchen styling – a space for kids at a breakfast bench, a sizable sink and a great cooker. Our stoneware dinnerware sets complete the natural, organic look. For Judyta, it was her studio – a place to paint and spend quality creative time.’
‘Our modern dining plate sets and pieces are for everyday living, part of our beautiful chaos. Set your family table with tough, gorgeous Portuguese ceramics Australia. Our Malo in Milk Dinner Set is the range that’s made itself at home with the Hulmes.’
