Maya Bread Plate
Get ready to break bread in style! Inspired by the shifting shades of the sea, our Maya bread plate in speckled stoneware features soft, misty aquas and cool, tranquil blues that evoke the peacefulness of a calm ocean. Each plate is a work of art, with layers of texture and colour that tell the story of its journey from raw clay to finished piece. The perfect size for your morning toast or a crusty baguette at dinner, this plate is a must-have for any coastal kitchen. With its neutral yet intriguing design, it’s a coastal-cool hero that'll last as long as your carb addiction!
Our Maya Bread Plate is Ø17cm x 2.5cm high, it has an organic slightly oval shape with drippy layered glaze. It's made from stoneware, with a clay sourced from far North East Thailand, and then it's fired to extremely high temperatures for over 12 hours (twice!). Making this piece very durable and fully vitrified (a fancy way of saying it won't absorb food and colour).
The Maya collection is handmade by a female studio in North East Thailand, using slip casts, wheels, jiggers and jollys. Its hand glazed and hand trimmed so variation should be expected. Dishwasher Safe, Microwave safe and Oven proof, talk about a triple threat!
Momentum is everything
We use muscle memory to make, shape and mould in a centrifugal dance where tiny movements matter. A frictional force of push and pull, the plate your purchase is the meeting place of maker and mud. Palinopsia turns clay into everyday objects.
Planet to Plate
What we do and don’t do matters. In constant conversation, we continue to modify our environmental and social influence from design to delivery. And our people and partners are all-in, in terms of responsible trading, recycling resources, reducing plastic and waste. Always innovating, brainstorming and tweaking to make strides in sustainability and durability, we take a planet perspective.
